Defend #Whittington public meeting, 19 September

Hi Everyone,

  • Public Meeting on THURSDAY!!!!!
  • Demonstration on 29th September
  • Other Campaigns
  • Next Meeting of DWHC Planning group

Public Meeting at Archway Methodist Church Hall at 7.00 pm on Thursday 19th September.

We have a great range of speakers as you will see on our attached poster, in addition to our local MPs and leader of the Council and two speakers from other campaigns. The Acting Chair of the Hospital Board, Robert Aitken and Dr Martin Kuper, the Medical Director, will be speaking to us about the new “improved” plans.

Over the past months, we had meetings and sent them a load of questions to which we really need answers. During this time the new plans were published, so we asked more questions. At long last we have had a response, but not really answers to the vital questions. A key fact is that there is the rather serious loss of medical staff in the first 6 months of this year. This contradicts what we thought was said about no job loss and no building loss. The evasive answers are also problematic.

We remain very concerned about their dependence on community care at a time of cutbacks.

If they fail to get the Trust agreed another Hospital Trust would probably manage our Hospital. Whoever runs the Hospital we will be there to campaign for our local Hospital, with an A and E, Intensive Care, Maternity Paediatric and other medical departments that meet our health needs,

So do come to the meeting and ask a question about the plans.

Please note that while there is wheelchair access at this venue it is limited, and we are currently trying to increase the accessibility. If you are planning to come to the meeting and use an electric chair you are advised to email defendwhittington@gmail.com for further details.
